Sheet 28 / Diagnostic set

Measure one drain before expanding the route

Time pooling and clearing at one fixture and disclose prior product or tool use.

Record the pooling height and approximate clearing time during ordinary use, then stop before overflow. A single slow fixture does not automatically describe the building drain.

Identify the symptom

Five callouts for this drawing

Each note describes an action, not a diagnosis. Leave unsupported branches open.

01

Pool depth

Use ordinary water only and stop before the basin nears overflow.

02

Clear time

Estimate how long the last water remains after the faucet stops.

03

Stopper position

Record normal open and closed behavior without dismantling the assembly.

04

Neighbor check

Note whether one nearby drain changes during the same safe interval.

05

Treatment history

Disclose cleaners, plungers, snakes, or prior service before work begins.

Trace the source

Follow evidence through the branch

Add stopper position, visible debris, nearby fixture behavior, prior products or tools, recurrence, and last normal use. Ask what evidence would justify moving beyond the fixture branch.

Original schematic. Not a property inspection or as-built drawing.

Repair route and access map

Define the boundary before authorization

Retain the access point, cleaned or replaced part, removed material description, flow demonstration, product cautions, and instructions for a repeat symptom.
